A. APPLICATION PACKAGE

The Competition is open to violinists of any nationality born on or after November 2, 1984 and on or before November 1, 1999. The complete application package must arrive at the Secretariat no later than August 16, 2014. Due to additional mailing time, international applicants are encouraged to apply early and send their application via express mail in order to have the package arrive on time. The completed application package must include the following. :

  • a.The completed and signed application form
  • b.Recording of applicant’s performance in the format of CD or DVD, in accordance with "Repertoire Constraints"
  • c.Letters of recommendation or reference from two eminent musicians; Korean and English languages are allowed. Please include translation for all other languages.
  • d.Biography or resume of the applicant; Korean and English languages are allowed.
  • e.Statement of recording’s authenticity, confirming that the recording has not been edited or manipulated; Korean and English languages are allowed, and any person aware of authenticity may write and sign it.
  • f.A photocopy of passport, or alternatively, another legal document that includes photograph, date of birth and nationality of the applicant himself/herself
  • g.Photograph (frontal portrait, 5cm X 7cm)
  • Documents will not be returned.
  • No other materials (ex. newspaper clippings etc.) should be enclosed.
  • No application package arriving after the due date will be accepted except the ones posted before August 2

C. PRELIMINARY STAGE

The Preliminary Jury will be responsible for choosing eligibly qualified Competitors from the applications received. All applicants will be notified of acceptance or rejection of their applications before September 1. Advisory comments will not be given within this notification.

D. ENTRY FEE

Applicants who have been selected to participate in the 1st Stage of the Competition must submit an entry fee of KRW 100,000 to the bank account shown below by September 16, 2014.

  • Account Holder : TIMF (1 Donam dong, Tongyeong; +82-55-650-0431)
  • Deposit of the entry fee will be considered a conclusion of a formal agreement between the Competitor and the Secretariat regarding his/her participation in the Competition under the conditions set out in the rules herein.
  • The entry fee is non-refundable.

E. TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION

Travel expenses to and from Tongyeong are the responsibility of the Competitors. International Competitors will be supported of free travel to Korea upon passing the Preliminary Stage for CD or DVD recording.

All Competitors will be provided with room and board by the Secretariat, at the specified lodgings from October 31 until the end of their official participation as stated below. The lodgings will be specifically designated and further announced, but Competitors who wish to stay in the other lodgings should take the responsibility on his/her own for room and board, public transport and practice facility. Competitors who wish to stay longer than official period will at his/her own expenses be provided with specially discounted accommodations.
